Lake District Restaurants

Independently verified — dog policies, menus and welcome standards confirmed before we publish.

Queen's Head · Troutbeck

Golden Paw

One of the Lake District's most celebrated dog-friendly pubs — and it earns it. The Queen's Head has its own dedicated dog menu with four different options. Your dog eats as well as you do here. Dogs welcome in all areas.

Wateredge Inn · Ambleside

Golden Paw

Right on the shores of Lake Windermere. Dedicated dog food menu (Sir Woofchester's range), treats on arrival and water bowls throughout. Dogs welcome in the bar, dining room and across the lakeside grounds.

Dog & Gun · Keswick

Silver

A proper Lakeland local — timber beams, good ale, and a genuinely dog-welcoming atmosphere rather than just a tolerant one. Fresh water bowls always out, free biscuits handed over at the bar on arrival. Dogs welcome in all areas.

Sticklebarn · Great Langdale

Silver

National Trust pub at the foot of the Langdale Pikes, now run by Lanty Slee's. Dogs welcome inside and out, water bowls and refill station on site. No dog menu — but the fell views from the terrace are the best of any pub in the Lake District.

Punch Bowl Inn · Crosthwaite

Silver

A 17th-century inn in the quiet Lyth Valley with serious food and a place in the Michelin Guide. Dogs are welcome in the bar area, but with only two dog-friendly tables you must book ahead and mention your dog.
